Fugro Geospatial Survey Services : Career opportunities

Career opportunities for which we recruit routinely:

  • Survey crews: Survey crews work as a team to manage conventional land surveys, precision 3D surveys, and other specialist survey activities. Party Chiefs direct field crew in performance of accurate and timely surveys completed to customer requirements; Instrument Technicians operate field survey equipment to collect survey data; survey analysts work with project managers to ensure all project specifications are met.

  • Project managers: Project managers oversee a variety of geospatial projects to ensure the successful completion of every contract assigned to Fugro. Responsibilities run throughout the project lifecycle and include contract review, job setup, quality assurance, subcontract coordination, budget and schedule monitoring, and customer coordination.

  • Map production teams: Varied levels of map production specialists are involved in the creation of geospatial deliverables from optical, LiDAR, and radar datasets, as well as satellite-based data. Project leaders oversee and contribute to mapping-related tasks while also distributing and balancing work among the production team; processing analysts process and edit data for production of final map products that meet technical specifications and customer requirements for data quality.

  • GIS teams: Fugro’s GIS experts accomplish a wide range of GIS projects for internal and external customers, alike. Solutions architects lead the group in GIS analysis, design, development, and implementation projects; application developers address the software or system demands of GIS customers with design and implementation of custom programming projects; analysts perform GIS support, including training, programming, project consultation, and analysis.


  • Software engineers: Software engineers provide hands-on software development and process automation in support of geospatial data acquisition, data processing, and the production of end-products. Advanced software is one of the key elements which gives Fugro’s Geospatial Services a competitive advantage and we are always on the lookout for software engineers to help maintain this technology lead.

  • Flight crew: Fugro’s flight crews operate aircraft which collect mapping data using optical sensors as well as LiDAR and radar mapping systems. Pilots are responsible for the planning and execution of airborne missions; data acquisition coordinators organize and report on active mission flight status; flight planners work with proprietary software to produce accurate flight plans for estimating and production; data acquisition engineers ensure that data collected meets quality requirements and assist with the integration of new hardware technologies into the airborne data acquisition environment.
