Fugro's exploration consultancy combines expertise from the key disciplines of seismic and non-seismic geophysics with structural and petroleum geology and supported as required by specialists in stratigraphy, sedimentology, geochemistry, petrophysics, reservoir engineering and economics. Fugro also offers specialist technical services to assist the analysis and interpretation of more particular problems. These include Qemscan (quantitative mineralogical analysis), chemostratigraphy and core magnetics.
Fugro offers a full service in all aspects of new ventures, exploration and appraisal from global studies to regional assessments, play fairway and prospect analysis and evaluation of prospective reserves. Detailed petroleum systems modelling and integration of other data gathered by Fugro (EM surveys, seeps, surface geochemistry) can all assist in risk-reduction. Exploration programmes are supported by analysis of cuttings, cores and fluids as well as logs, tests and other engineering data to assist in the understanding of subsurface reservoirs, seal and source potential.
Exploration activities are supported by Fugro non-exclusive datasets and reports. These include global thematic studies (plate models, palaeogeographies, palaeoclimate models); Tellus, a petroleum systems and play fairways database of over 90% of the known hydrocarbon basins: over 500 regional, data-rich reports and non-exclusive data packages of seismic, well, fluid and field data.
