Starfix DGPS Services Fugro’s state-of-the-art Starfix Differential GPS (DGPS) systems were developed specifically to meet the offshore community’s demand for robust and accurate positioning solutions worldwide. The DGPS algorithms, developed by Fugro, remove the errors inherent in the US DoD’s Global Positioning System with the help of more than 95 land-based reference stations and permanently manned control centres in the USA, Europe and Australia. A network of high and low power communication satellites deliver the data in real-time to vessels and other mobile users the world over.

For cost-benefit reasons, our clients increasingly demand very accurate positioning solutions. An enhancement of our standard Starfix DGPS service is Starfix.Plus, an advanced dual-frequency DGPS solution designed to mitigate problems of increased ionospheric activity in equatorial and polar regions that have an adverse effect on the satellite signals used to derive a positioning solution. HP is Fugro's High-Performance dual frequency system that uses proprietary algorithms to provide 10cm level accurate positioning solutions at great distances from shore. Complementing Starfix.HP is the revolutionary SkyFix-XP that uses improved estimates of the GPS satellite orbits (State Space Solution) to provide positioning solutions at the 15cm level worldwide.

The Starfix.HP and SkyFix-XP systems and infrastructure are each totally autonomous. In this way, the two services can be used with confidence in those situations that demand totally independent systems for the highest levels of robustness and integrity. Dual satellite data delivery systems ensure further independence. Fugro provides high power satellite broadcasts, that in many parts of the world provide dual data delivery and that allows the use of small omni-directional receive antennas.
